Fish and Birds

This morning at daybreak, we passed the border between the Western Sahara and Mauritania. If you tell this to a seaman, he probably does not know where you are talking about. Cap Blanc is better. The seawater temperature dropped a few degrees and therefore it felt cold this morning after such a warm day we had yesterday. Reason for all this is, that at this area, a cold ocean current meets a warm current and the African coast. It causes cold and oxygen rich water flow to come up to the surface. A perfect place and condition for an awful lot of fish. The water is green now instead of the Ocean blue, a sign that it contains a lot of oxygen. Not only fish know that this is a good place for them, fishermen know it as well. Apparently no quotas here, Russian fish factory vessels catch enormous amounts of fish here, to be transported all over the world, except for the countries where it comes from. This morning we passed within four hours at least twenty of these floating factories. A shame? They only give an answer to our western and eastern need for fish. An awful lot of fish.
