An Entertaining Idea!
First of all, I must say I thank the Good Lord for the rain that came our way today. Although we did not receive copious amounts, it rained a slow steady rain for probably well over an hour. The rain seemed to cleanse the air and it just feels so good!
Now, about that brilliant idea of mine.
I am not the "sharpest pencil in the drawer". While one with great math and logic skills can probably accomplish the things it takes me forever to figure out, I will say that I can be much more creative in getting a job done!
While at WalMart one day, I saw little sacks of Thistle Seed that are supposed to attract finches as well as Indigo Buntings. I have buntings living down the driveway, so I really got excited about the idea! I scooped up the sack as well as a suction cup hanger that attaches to the window.
Sounds easy enough, doesn't it?
Well, not for a left-handed, illogical thinker, I'm afraid! I opened the cute little hanger and hung precariously from the second story bedroom window....I think I must have looked like I was either doing the Limbo, or trying to commit suicide without looking below! (or, perhaps both!)
I was quite pleased with myself when the little sack was neatly hung onto the hanger and it held securely, even when I tested it by tugging at it a bit. Success!
It was only when we returned from our five day adventure that I was lying in bed and realized that the bottom window opens upward on the inside of the room. All I had to do was raise it and stick my arm out the window to secure the suction cups to the upper window, then hang the sack on the little hook. I won't even try to explain the "other" way I hung the little feeder.
Well, apparently, the wee Mrs. Goldfinch is neither concerned nor interested in hearing about the whole ordeal. She is merely enjoying the fruits of my labor!
