Birthday shopping in Lancaster

To Lancaster, to buy presents for Charlie's birthday, next week. The plan had been to head up to Keswick - my new favourite town - but Abi quite firmly veto'd this plan, insisting that the shopping was better in Lancaster.

So, after a lazy morning, we headed south, grabbed lunch in Subway, and then launched ourselves at the shops: Waterstones (tote bag for our purchases, £10. Ouch!); the flea market; Thorntons; TK Maxx; WH Smiths; and a rather lovely coffee shop, where I treated myself to some coffee beans and considered a bottle of gin for Charlie, which I put down as if burned when I saw it was £47 quid. I'm not sure I could pay that much for a drink that isn't taken neat.
