Hopeton01 - Alyssa

The meaning & origin of names has long held a deep fascination for me and today, another was added to my growing list.

The exact origin of the name Alyssa is not entirely clear but is agreed to have roots in Hebrew and more recently in Germanic cultures.

On the Hebrew side, it means "joy, great happiness";
the German meaning is  "noble, kind". . .

Our friend's little girl - nearly 3 - certainly brought joy in our visit and from the way she kept offering me various toys to share and biscuits to eat, she certainly has the 'kindness' box ticked!!
