Linlithgow Loch

Monday birding walk took us to Linlithgow Loch this morning. This has always been a very productive place for us and today was no exception. A first visit for the newest member of our group but we were rewarded with a total of 36 species during our walk around the loch.
Morning fog in Edinburgh, but clear skies here and this kestrel gave us some lovely views of her hovering over the path and hunting before she settled on the top of this conifer and posed for over 15 minutes!
We'd actually hoped for sight of displaying by the great crested grebes on the loch, and we weren't disappointed - see extras.
The kestrel still wins pride of place for today - sadly the forecast for tomorrow is for mist and fog. Tomorrow's blip may be indoors!
Next Monday is a visit to the Water of Leith in Colinton Dell, so I'm hoping for a kingfisher, but more realistically, we should see dippers and/or grey wagtails. Perhaps the spring blossom, or even the lichen will feature in next Monday's Blip?
