Spoilt for Choice!
(backblip)
This evening Shelagh took us along to St Monans International Food Festival, where we sampled a huge range of interesting and delicious dishes from all over the world, in the village hall. What a selection! Such a wide variety of foods with snacks, breads and drinks as well as main courses. There was also a vast selection of puddings - from gateaux and trifles to bread and butter puds and lemon meringue roulade - something for everyone!
As well as serving the food, some of the stall holders, including this lady, explained how the food was made, what it was cooked on and the occasions when it would be eaten. Nice to see Nelson Mandela too! The tiny black olive fritters and the Turkish lamb tagine with couscous were my favourites. Mike really enjoyed a Canadian tourtiere, but it was the brioche and whisky bread and butter pud which won his heart!
It was such a lovely evening, everybody so friendly and a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, with folk of every age enjoying themselves and raising money for the Sea Queen Day. Shelagh won a huge hamper in the raffle, and Mike and I managed to unscramble the cheese anagrams and win a wedge of Danish blue!
Another happy day!
