Common Kingfisher

Looking in my favourite book 'Common Birds in Oman' by Hanne & Jens Eriksen, I was sad to be reminded that this beautiful bird will only be in Oman for a maximum of six more weeks (end of April) and then she will leave for a cooler climate! So I will have to take as many shots of her as I can before it's too late.
One thing I have really learnt from photographing birds with such beautiful, iridescent feathers is that it is all too easy to ruin a photograph with blown highlights so a judicious amount of exposure compensation dialled in is necessary and that patience is indeed a virtue! Now all I want is a shot of her diving, flying, fishing, etc, etc and of course my family think I am just a little bit potty!
