Nye's
Nye's Bar and Polonaise Room has been a popular hot spot in Northeast Minneapolis since 1950. This long narrow room originally opened as Hefron's in the 1880's. I love the retro feel of the place. The dining room has gold speckled booths, a curved piano bar, red carpet and chandeliers made of thick colored glass. We were in the area tonight so stopped in because Nye's is scheduled to close on April 3 and condominiums will be built on this piece of very valuable property just a block off of the Mississippi River. Another piece of history torn down in the name of progress.
