Cause I've been by myself; all night long
Last night was Zodiac night. For those uninitiated Scout types among you - this is a outside sleepover... there's supposed to be one every month, hence "Zodiac".
Himself took them off, 17 of them, and associated leaders, to Loch Doon, a forty five minute walk from the car stop, pitch the tents, cook their dinners, have a wander in the dark and then bed.
I stopped outside the Scout hall to watch the departure, and scream abuse, (as I am prone to do) at himself before he leaves. There's nothing like trying to control a pack of Scouts when the leader has had manic wife screaming "I LOVE YOU oH YES I DO" out the car window at him, refusing to stop until he replies in kind :-)
I was struck dumb.
He had all 17 lined up against a wall, I seriously thought he might shoot them, but he was barking instructions at them. None of this politically correct mishmash for Himself - poor weans; but hey - I then watched as they all peeled off and went and did exactly what he had told them to do... and none of the parents standing said anything either.. (I thinks they were scared too).
And off they went, and off I went. A wee bit of retail therapy, a wee bit of hair colouring (rather a lot of hair colouring in fact... that would take a whole other blip)... a wee bit of Pizza, and lemon meringue pie.. a wee bit of telly and then Bed.
I know how to live! I was actually prepared enough this morning to have prepped the dinner before he came home which was a big plus. It actually looked like I had been doing stuff and not just sitting on my arse since he left :-)
