Not a bee

A yellow Syrphida  (bee fly) on a yellow dandelion.  These look like a bee, but are actually a fly and are totally harmless.


I sat in my dandelion patch this morning hoping to photograph bees, but all I saw was this lone bee fly.


thank you all so much for your support yesterday.  I've been beating myself up a lot over this, but as many of you have said, it is the right thing for Jasper.  i just hope I chose the right family for her.


Today has been weird without her.  I got up this morning to let her out but of course she wasn't here.  The times I've automatically looked for her today have surprised me - I hadn't realised how natural that had become.  Ah well, I guess I'll get used to it eventually.
