First camellia

A dry, if cloudy day, with a little drizzle in the air, as we walked back from town, after our coffee :-) the rain did t amount to anything thankfully.......so after a quick bacon sandwich we were going to get out in the garden. Whilst we were clearing up in the kitchen, we spotted a very small bird flying down onto the grasses in the pond, we got a good look at it, pretty sure it was a Gold Crest, which is a first for me!!! Hope to see it again........didn't have my camera handy :-/ having watched the bird, that was when I noticed that our first camellia bud had opened......it was slightly hidden, so had to be today's blip.

Once outside, I finished clearing and cleaning the pond, much to the frogs and newts dismay.......the newts are still very sleepy. I spent ages fishing out all the duck weed, there is so much......probably because it's not been that cold, it's not died off!

Hub planted up his first potatoes in the green house, tidied up his strawberries and planted some new primulas in the wall mounted troughs by the front door. He snook indoors to watch the rugby at 4..........he did bring me a cup of tea, which I enjoyed sat on the bench watching a pair of long tailed tits feeding on one of the fat cakes.

I did another hour of clearing up dead heads, cutting back, general tidying of the big border across the back......another trug full for,the garden bin, just about squashed it in!!!!

Called it a day about 5.15.......watched the end of the rugby with hub, before sorting out what we were going to have for dinner. Went for pan fried haddock, oven roasted sliced potatoes and runner beans.

A typical Saturday nights viewing I guess tonight........enjoy your evening whatever you're doing :-)
