An Alpine Start

But not that kind, indeed this morning I awoke from one of my longest sleeps in years, nearly 12 hours, as one friend said, "that's nearly hibernation".
When we have the option we seldom ski at the weekend, instead we'll use the slopes busier days to meet up with friends, mooch about, do the C&C thing, have lunch out, take a drive - today we did all that & one of us even got a bit of report writing done whilst someone snoozed on the couch.

We drove into the oh so busy Chamonix valley for lunch with a friend, it's 20 minutes by car, but seems a world away at times. It's a mecca for Brits when they come to the Alps, for many, myself included, it's where they take the first steps from rock climbing to Alpinism. Everywhere in the valley your eyes are drawn upwards, this stunning skyline seen above the iconic train station was one of my first ever Mountaineering adventures more than two decades ago. I see it whenever I'm here (well if it's clear, not like Feb last year) & I smile a warm smile every time.

ps- thanks for all the ♡'s & *'s for yesterday's panorama, you're all very kind.
