A robber fly sits on the curry plant eating a fly.
Common robber fly, Neoitamus melanopogon, New Zealand native.
I was intending not to blip an insect today, but then I saw this.
There was a frost this morning. I was cold in the night, which made me suspect a possible frost. I was up at dawn spraying the beans, zucchinis, squash and outdoor tomatoes. They seem to have come through all right. It was strange to see ice on the bowl of water I provide for thirsty birds and animals.
