We spent the day scooting around the Embra furniture emporia in the search for dining chairs. Such things are never easy in the TD household: if I like something, Herself doesn’t; of course, the converse is also true. One of the main issues is that we have a family heirloom, a chestnut dining table that belonged to my grandparents. My, perhaps rather romantic idea of them, is that he, being a carpenter by profession, had an eye for good quality woodwork while she had an eye for a good price.
Although the exercise took most of the day, it was, by and large, successful; there were a few details to sort out when we arrived home, but it now only remains for me to return to the last shop we visited and place the order. Finis! That is apart from the small matter of the expense.
Meanwhile, at the other end of our expedition, in the first shop we visited, I noticed several of these statuettes; they do have some charm but the expression on the athlete’s face is far from convincing.
