Back Blip: Last Saturday. . .
While playing football with these two, I tried so hard to 'take pictures with my eyes', I didn't want to disturb the game. The lighting was bad and I was sure it would be a wasted picture anyway. I looked over at my camera sitting on the bench 50 ft away from me and thought, "I've got a horrible memory and this moment means so much to me". I grabbed my camera, cranked up (way up) the ISO and started shooting. I'm so glad I did, because the images I captured of my boys playing football together I will forever cherish. When I look at those images, I will be reminded of the fun day we had in Seattle, taking Alex up to the top of the Space Needle for the first time. I'll remember his silly obsession with the balloon man, the disappointment he felt when we lost him, and the way his face lit up when we found him again. I'll remember watching him swing that balloon sword around in public with no inhibition at all. I'll remember our walk at dusk through the Sculpture Park down to the water where we threw the football until we couldn't see it anymore, and the panic Isaac and I felt when Alex hid from us walking back up through the park (in his defense, we did it first). I'll remember another delicious dinner at Purple, because where else do we ever eat?! The pictures will remind me to really enjoy the time I get to spend with my little family on our weekend adventures because I'm not naive enough to think they'll last forever.
