Bridge View in France
We took a train today--again a fast TGV-- to the northwest (exactly the opposite direction of our jaunt to Tours earlier this week). Arriving in Bar-le-Duc, we were met by our friends Anne and Roger--the parents of Marie-Madeleine whose family we have seen twice this stay. We had quite a tour in the town and its surroundings. Anne grew up the immediate area of this village--Rupt-aux-Nonains--and relatives still live here. The low stone bridge in the foreground dates from 1557 (it's a listed historical monument); after a close look we drove on for the wonderful view in this image--quite hazy in the original, but improved for the blip. Anne and Roger live in a wonderful large house in Saint-Dizier, nearly 200 kilometers from Paris; we've visited them nearly every year since ca. 2010.
