Elephant sanctuary

Today was definitely a highlight of our travelling! We went to an Elephant rescue and rehabilitation centre set in a huge park surrounded by rainforest. We learnt all about the dark side of elephant tourism in Thailand and how these poor animals are tortured and abused to be trained for rides and shows- it was heartbreaking. Throughout the day we got to interact with these gentle giants- we walked with them, bathed them in the river and fed them endless amounts of fruit! It was such an amazing experience. We also met some lovely Americans and Liverpudlians at the sanctuary.
