Lessons...Help needed :)

Inspired by Tiny Tuesday, which I missed yesterday, I decided to try out some close ups for today's blip. I found that my camera only lets me get so close to an object while staying in focus which sent me into a panic that the camera was broken. Now I'm thinking that it must be because the lens I'm using (standard lens with camera) doesn't deal well with macro shots - does this sound right?

This led me to trying out lots of buttons on the camera and I finally found a 4× digital zoom button which worked better for close ups and I was able to get this shot of a little flower on my lamp.

Now obsessing about a new lens!
