Miniature Coffins

Oh! The joy! A trip to the museum with the Flumlet.

The excitement began with watching an excavator (=digger) outside, preparing the street for a new piazza or somesuch, along with a road roller and dumper truck; we could have watched it for ages.

Such things might have been sufficient but we went in to see the animals that appear in his books (elephant, giraffe, crocodile and so on) and the steam engine, and models with plenty of buttons to press. What with corridors to trot along and the many benches to climb on, the most interesting thing was the staircase - we climbed up several while Mr Flum had to take the buggy in the lift to wherever we ended up.

Then there was lunch among some Flum friends in The Well Café, and, to cap it all, there was the bus trip back to the car. Small wonder he fell asleep straight away.

The blip is the display of some of the miniature coffins found on Arthur's Seat. They were the inspiration to an Ian Rankin novel, The Falls. In the museum they are tucked away in a far corner, accessible only to a toddler on the run.
