Tiny Keys on a Tiny PIano
This hand-painted piano music box belonged to my husband's grandmother, Gora Cooke. We don't know if she painted it, but her name is on the inside and, also, if you look closely her name has been carved into the paint where the manufacturer's name would go.
Gora was a professional piano player from the 1920's into the 1970's. Her day job was at a Minneapolis Department Store (Dayton's) where she managed the music department and would play sheet music for people so they could hear it before buying. She also played on live radio shows, in move theaters for silent movies and, of course, piano bars. Gora's love of music and her talent has been passed down to my husband and his daughter who will be graduating this spring with a Masters Degree in Clarinet performance.
Continuing with my weekly theme of history, this was a bit of family history and also hopefully meets the tiny Tuesday challenge.
