Moss
Yes, I was down on my knees for this. We have plenty of moss in our grass, especially on the south of the drive where we used to get a lot of runoff from the field in the south. The moss is fruiting at present. These are the sporangia and spores will develop in the terminal capsules. These give rise to the haploid generation which in turn will produce the moss plant like this, the sporophyte generation. This alternation of generations, alternating haploid and diploid generations, is seen in all mosses, liverworts and ferns.
After all that I don't know what this moss is!
