After waking to find the garden white with frost and a smattering of snow, the rest of the day was dominated by blue sky and warm sunshine so I decided that it was too good to miss so went for a long walk and ended up at Portobello. The calm sea, golden sands and blue sky with the distant view towards the conical North Berwick Law reminded me of summer, although the ice cream kiosk was selling hot drinks rather than ices.
I did not notice the ‘pterodactyl”’ pigeon photobombing the picture as it flew past the 1860 fountain known as the Prince of Wales Fountain because apparently when Edward VII stayed at Holyrood Palace as Prince of Wales, he enjoyed visiting the Portobello beach.
