Sunset over Oban bay

I'm in Oban for our Diocesan Synod, a two-day affair to allow for all the people who have to come from the islands to have time to pause. This is the view from the room my pal and I are sharing; by tomorrow I expect it all to be obscured by rain.

People are asking me if we're likely to have fun while we're here. After all, it's a Synod, and it's Lent. But tonight we're meeting friends for dinner, and tomorrow there's the pre-Synod meeting followed by the Bishop's drinks party in the narthex of the Cathedral followed by the Synod dinner...

I think we'll manage to have fun ...
