After Fukushima
Today I went to the World Press Photo Exhibition 2012 at the Scottish Parliament which was often difficult viewing. There were a number of photographs of Japan following the tsunami and the creation of an exclusion zone around the Fukushima nuclear power station. I thought this was one of the most poignant images - it's of Nobuko Sanpei, aged 74, eating dinner in her cardboard-box home in an evacuee shelter in a conference centre.
The photo is by David Guttenfelder of the USA working for National Geographic magagzine - I hope he (and everyone else) won't mind that I've used his photo! I just thought it was worth showing it to people who are interested in photography but who won't necessarily see the exhibition.
If you would like to see some more images from the exhibition, here's a link to the relevant page of the Scottish Parliament website. The exhibtion is on until 28th July.
