In a rut
The dogs had a party today, and we all got wet. The ruts and holes in the road are now so deep that I won’t risk taking the car up to our usual parking spot - so Dookie got to visit his favourite garbage bins both on the way up and the way down the hill. He leaps onto a platform two metres above the ground and raids all the rubbish. I could just reach up and grab his tail –which made him pretty angry, but he finally jumped down. We went on home, but Kayla didn’t follow. When she still hadn’t returned nearly an hour later, Dookie and I set out to look for her. Of course, the rain started as soon as I left the car and of course, Dookie jumped back up onto the platform and had to be dragged off again. The workmen at the house nearby said Kayla had been and gone, but then she emerged from inside the property. It turned out that a lorry driver had dropped in there for lunch and given her some of his steak – no wonder she stayed put!
The extra photo shows the river running fast after all the rain – the cat (see here) wouldn’t have found an island to survive on this week.
A late lunch, then time to pack up and head back to Rio. Rain all the way, but lighter than last week, unlike the traffic, which was worse as we got the tail end of the rush hour. Now to straighten up the house for airbnb guests who arrive tomorrow morning.
