Frontline Duty - Digging In

An open day at the World War One trenches in Pollok Park. We got down into the Allied trench for the first time. Fascinating talk by Dr Tony Pollard of Glasgow University. A No Man's Land has been created between this and the German trench.

Displays of medical equipment, weapons, lucky charms, and several volunteers in period costume. We handled WW1 grenades, tried periscopes, and some visitors went 'over the top'.

The site will extend with more trench digging up to 2018. Further Open Days planned every six weeks or so. Check 'Digging In' online and Facebook.
