Edinburgh - Day 5

Big long walk Sunday

Today I thought I’d have to spend all day in ‘snooze mode’ watching Ann strip wallpaper.  And that’s not very exciting for a gorgeous little collie!  But do you know what?............... the sun was shining and the sky was blue and Ann said, ‘Molly, it’s a beautiful day.  Stuff the wallpaper stripping.  It’s the weekend.  Let’s go for a big long walk instead.’

So we jumped on a number 41 bus and off we went to Cramond.  Walked from Cramond to Portobello which took us about 3 hours.  I got to splish, splash, splosh in the Firth of Forth but I also had to do a lot of on my lead walking because once we passed Granton Harbour we were walking on pavements till we got about half a mile from Portobello.  I went ballistic at a lot of buses today!!!!

And then guess what happened when we got to Portobello?  ……………..We sat down at the bus stop because Edinburgh bus stops are very posh and have seats to wait for the number 15 or 45 bus, and then we checked the very techie bus stop thing that tells you when the bus is due we don’t go on buses often so all this is a new experience and neither the no 15 or 45 was showing.  So then we checked the timetable and discovered that neither buses run on a Sunday???  Well Ann says the no. 45 definitely used to run on a Sunday in the 1970s?!!!  Had to walk an extra 20 mins to get a no. 5 bus.

So with my morning walk, big long walk and walk to the shops for Ann to get wine walk; we’ve walked almost 12 miles today.

Oh and if anyone is interested, Ann has bought two bottles of wine and has just discovered that her tenants have disappeared with her corkscrew, as well as most of her mugs & cutlery and a whole host of other stuff.  Once this flat has been refurbished there’s going to be a few changes about who it’s rented to.  The moral of the story being; – always buy wine with screw tops!!!!!

We certainly aren’t going out again tonight to buy a corkscrew! Not even sure there’s anywhere to buy a corkscrew on a Sunday night in Morningside.   Morningside is a lovely area of Edinburgh but it’s full of coffee shops, takeaways, Waitrose, M&S, and Sainsbury’s that only sell ‘ready meals’. It’s almost an impossibility to buy a pack of toilet rolls and some bin bags.  It’s snowing here in chilly Edinburgh.  What a difference from the gorgeous sunshine this morning.

……………And tomorrow I’ve definitely got to watch Ann stripping wallpaper.  Booooohoooo!!!!
