Joy of connection

One of the wonderful things about mothering is that I found parts of myself I didn't know existed (both good and bad) and experienced the highs and lows of emotions I'd previously thought I understood.  
Another joy was an extraordinarily beautiful and real friendship I formed with a group of older, first-time moms.  We met weekly from the birth of our children, until our babies were in Grade 2 and have kept in touch over the years. Our babies, now almost grown up are about to complete school. These women know my child as well as I do, often seeing parts I cannot access.
Over the years we've shared the joys and challenges of mothering, schooling, divorce, loss and death.  Our meeting always supportive, nurturing and filled with laughter!.  Real life, through real connection.
