Restored Tower House

After a long morning of planting trees, I decided to take myself of for a little explore east of Ballydehob village an area I'm not that familiar with. First a small quay where Roaring Water river enters the sea at a meandering creek. There was a well but not a holy one, a man was filling up his water container and vouched for the good water quality. Then through an area of derelict farmhouses to a children's burial ground, an odd place, very well maintained but with just a couple of what looked liked original graves and one large commemorative stone with the names of several children inscribed on it. Then onto the ruins of a medieval church and graveyard still in use. Finally as the sun was disappearing a walk along the foreshore with views to Kilcoe Castle, the Medieval Tower House that has been beautifully restored by the actor Jeremy Irons, quite a location with views out to the bay. I have actually been to the top and gazed out across the islands, as a friend was care taking the place.
Celebrated a friends birthday in the evening, good company and delicious food, thank you.
