Lucinda Hawksley - Charles Dickens and His Circle

A cold, wintery afternoon in Bath today, complete with hail showers!

Today’s Literature Festival talk was by historian and writer Lucinda Hawksley who talked passionately about “the life of her great-great-great grandfather, Charles Dickens and his extensive circle of friends and associates who included many of the most eminent and influential figures of the Victorian age such as Wilkie Collins, Elizabeth Gaskell and Lord Tennyson.” Bath Festivals

The talk was illustrated by paintings and photographs from the National Portrait Gallery and was to launch Lucinda Hawksley’s new book which goes on sale from Monday. Along with the other members of today’s audience, I was one of the first people to have the opportunity to purchase a copy! A very interesting afternoon...
