Sometimes I get my wires crossed
At some point, brevity doesn’t translate into simplicity. It translates into obscurity. Knowing the exact point that happens—when a haiku I’ve shortened lacks clarity and only becomes confusing—isn’t always apparent. It depends on the context the reader brings.
symmetry of trees
clouds meter the rising sun
exposing a barn in Edward Hopper light
And, another thing...these 5-7-5 rules were made by a bunch of stuffy haiku bureaucrats, who have no idea how I like to express myself.
EXTRA - Today is the birthday of our twin daughters, Jess & Ally. Nothing has ever come close to the first moment I saw them.
