A HAMMETT DAHLIA:

Dr Keith Hammett is a famous plant breeder living in Auckland, who specialises in single dahlias with very dark, mahogany foliage. He also breeds sweet peas, clivias & amaryllis. Whenever you see the Hammett name, you know the plant is something special.

I must tell you a funny story. As most of you know Peter lives in the cottage, & I cook dinner for him every night. His outside bedroom door is a sliding one, & because it is warm these nights, he leaves it open. You also know we are down to 1 hen. Last night when he went to bed, he was surprised to see, the said hen had popped in, flown up onto the bedroom cabinet & was nestling in on a pillow placed there. You have to appreciate the hen house & the cottage are miles apart, (not quite, but you know what I mean ) but Henrietta, obviously wanted security & a little T. L. C. !
