Blue Mountains Icons 5

It was a simply scrumptious looking day. It was the sort of day when one should go shoot a Blue Mountains Icon or two. Icon 5 is The Three Sisters which is a famous landform made so by the countless pictures shot of it from Echo Point at Katoomba. If you click here you will see my version of the traditional Echo Point Three Sisters which I did indeed post for "forms sake".

Normally I hate "me too" pictures and so I thought (now that I've begun the "Icons" series) I'd bring you The Three Sisters from a rather lesser known vantage point called Spooners Lookout. As visitors enter Echo Point they can veer to the left and take a paved track down to The Three Sisters where they can cross a bridge to the actual landmark. Not far along the journey, however, you come to a lonely branch in the track which leads to Spooners Lookout.

At any one time, HUNDREDS of DSLR wielding tourists are tramping along the main path but there's rarely ANYONE coming down to where we are currently standing. From here we also get another good look at Icon 3, which is Mt Solitary.
