A visit to the torture chamber this morning (this is going to be an increasingly frequent occurrence) followed by a very interesting seminar on digital communications in literature and various meetings this afternoon. Early evening I met Mr A to go and see a famous Scottish historian launching his new book at an event in the Surgeon's Hall. Interesting as a presentation, but the Q&A session showed a certain prickliness that I've seen before.

It was a bit annoying because although several women put their hands up to ask questions none were called by the chair. So the only woman's voice we heard all evening was that of the woman from Blackwells who had organised the event.
