Green Basilisk Lizard

These large lizards are found alongside the watercourses of the Tortuguero National Park.  They are sometimes referred to as "Jesus Christ Lizards" as, when they are small, they have the ability to run across the surface of the water when startled.  It is still hot and very humid but we have so far avoided the tropical rain showers.
