Jaipur and it's surrounds.
Main attraction is the Amber Fort, located, strangely enough in Amber, a few miles north. Amber was the earlier capital of Rajasthan until it began to run out of water. The then Maharaja, Jai, built himself a new capital at Jaipur.
Access to the fort is, for suckers / tourists, on the back of one of about 100 elephants which are well cared for, and restricted in usage as the route is reasonably steep.
Unfortunately any gathering of tourists attracts a myriad of flies, and hawkers. Sick to death of these guys!
This is probably the best of the forts which we have visited, although I don't remember much about the others. Come to think of it, I don't recall much of today, already.
We also visited the City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and Hawa Mahal, the " Palace of the winds" which was difficult to view because of traffic and pickpocket fears.
Sorry about the " us on an efelump" snap. Someone else's, and I can't get it to stay turned.
Google Jantar Mahal if you would like more. It's an early scientific instrument park. Can tell local time to within 2 seconds!
Day off tomorrow, free to wander around aimlessly, as is our want. Then back to Delhi on Thursday, enroute to Amritsar.
Cheers.
