A Historic Day
A historic day for me, everyone involved in this project, those living in the neighbourhood and most importantly, the generations of children and families that will be served by this new building.
Today was the site start on a new special needs (ASN) secondary school in Grangemouth. This £17.5million project will replace Carrongrange School in Larbert and will provide a fabulous facility for up to 190 pupils from across the district. It's equally funded by Falkirk Council and the Scottish Government and will open in August 2017.
I've got the great privilege of being part of the team delivering this. It's taken three and a half years to get to this point and there's still a lot of work to do before we hand it over to the contractor. It's just the advance works going on at the moment. However, we got delivery of a crucial report today telling us it would be on time and on budget, so feels like the start of the final push.
I can't wait to see it going up.. so excited!!! I will definitely be blipping progress of the build. I couldn't find anywhere in the adjacent primary to set up a timelapse, so it'll have to be regular photos instead.. watch this space!!
