 ........ Monday110 (MM110) - LEAP!

After bowling I'm not up for leaping - no-one else at home except Mister Whisper - that dog can leap but would he??  No, he wouldn't.

Instead I give you a photo of a copy of a 1908 (or possibly 1912) postcard by Donald McGill showing one of his typical takes on life at the turn of the century.  It is said that men would go to any length not to be "caught" by a woman proposing in a LEAP year.

McGill was a cartoonist born around 1875 (he died in 1962 aged 87).
He quickly became known for his "saucy" postcards and his designs were expert in "double entendre" and the subject matter was often ingenious as well as downright rude (at the time).

He designed around 12,000 different seaside postcards throughout his career and, in 1954, was charged with publishing obscene images and a number of his cards were immediately banned.
He earned 3 guineas per design but his cards are now highly sought after and his original artwork can fetch up to £2,000.

Thank you to MrsLinda for hosting the challenge this month with some very interesting and thought-provoking subjects.

FlowerFriday Hearts and HMs will be listed tomorrow - sorry for their lateness (again) this week.

If you have a moment (and any interest) I have backblipped for Saturday and Sunday ...... it was a busy weekend.

I hope that any of you who have proposed today got the answer you wanted!!!
