A lovely jaunt to Nethybridge, thanks to the Mr and the wonder of Groupon.
Hotel...hysterical, just like Fawlty Towers brought north of the border although I will say the food was plentiful, fairly tasty and hot. Best scrambled egg I have had for a hotel breakfast too.
We probably should apologise for causing utter chaos when asking to sit at a window seat for two instead of the giant table for six right in the middle of the empty dining room, and also for my attack of the giggles after the trainee waiter proudly displayed our bottle of wine to the both of us as if it were a new born babe, before crashing it down, unopened, onto the table and marching off. with a jolly "there ya go". Fortunately it was a screw top so we struggled on bravely.
The giggles started again as the head waitress informed us solemnly that the coffee we ordered with dessert would NOT be served at table, but could be found in the lounge as she then practically trod on waitress bringing dessert and assuring us the coffees would be along imminently. They whispered crossly at one another in the middle of the dining room....if we had only taken the table for six we would have been able to hear them.
We had our coffee in the lounge.
I did find my new favourite whisky...Port Charlotte, so not at all a wasted weekend.
