Cavanaugh Island Restoration - Reverse Logging
The Lummi Nation started staging large wood for the construction of restoration elements in the Cavanaugh Island reach of the South Fork Nooksack today. And it's great to see projects you've invested a lot of time in, go to completion. As I've mentioned before as part of the project, the tribe will be building 6 engineered logjams and multiple habitat log structures to improve aquatic habitat for endangered salmon.
Columbia Helicopters out of Oregon did a great job with the staging and certainly know how to move a lot of material. It's also great to see this technology used to actually put wood back in the environment instead of the opposite...
