Cast a long shadow

This photography is all a bit confusing. The small pub seems to be casting a big shadow on the glass building - but it's the big building you can't see that's responsible. The pub appears to be leaning to the left - that's caused by distortion due to camera's wide angle lens. The glass building looks like it is falling back - now here's the difficult one: this new building has a variety of odd curves and leans in/out at inappropriate points, so I am not sure what is "true". The main point of confusion is that there is something (apparently) called sunshine and distinct lack of rain - any ideas on this obvious optical illusion?

I took my motorbike in for a service and MoT yesterday. The chap in the garage asked if I thought anything needed doing and I said the rear number plate needed a replacement screw. The bill came to nearly £300! They mumbled something about bikes needing working brakes these days... D'oh!
