Waiting on photos

After a 3.30am bed time, it was never going to be pleasant getting up at 8.30am to pick up a car and go kayaking. It was a huge effort packing the boats and getting to the river, but I was thankfully far more awake by the time I got there. We went to the North Esk for Rory and Jonty's birthday party and lots of friends made it for the trip (I think there was 17 of us). 

I had such a lovely time thanks to Rory and being able to paddle the topo duo, a double kayak. I've been avoiding kayaking for a bit after having a few bad swims and just feeling pretty bad about my kayaking ability. Being at the front of the duo (the easiest of the two positions) and with such a great paddler was incredibly helpful. Rory has always been the one to convince me to go down rapids in the past as he is very calm and relaxed, so it was great being in a boat with him. I felt really happy the whole river and was so glad that I did the river instead of staying at home! 

We then all travelled back to Edinburgh to have a party at Rory's house. Unfortunately last night combined with today was too much for me and I went to bed with Amy at midnight. It was a lovely day though - hopefully someone will put up photos soon to replace this one I took of the mileage of the car to fill out a university transport form!
