Squacco Heron(Ardeola ralloides)
A very amusing small bird, who likes to skulk around the edges of the river this is the Squacco Heron. I like to think of this bird having a striped 'mane' and the unusual feature of pure white wing feathers. Another very well camouflaged bird and pretty much fearless, when it comes to being closely watched through a big lens unlike some of the bigger Herons!
I love the intense stare this bird is giving me.
Extra photo is the view of Mutrah Corniche from one of the newly restored look out towers. It is a long steep climb up from the car park but the view is worth it.
