Home, sweet home
Today, pa-in-law went into the care home - his decision and he was on good form this morning. Having called him early this morning to make sure he was up and ready, we arrived at his and started loading the car. He was given a card from the residents were he lives, which surprised him as he said he was a quiet one and didn't think people thought much of him. Toothbrush, biscuits and slippers the last essentials to go into the car. Having supported pa-in-law since his move near to us (nearly 2years), we have seen him go through a number of changes, coping and supporting him with a number of appointments, various trips to garden centres and the clever way of suggesting going out to dinner and we end up paying .... he he :). He looked very happy today, as soon as he arrived he said he would go into the lounge whilst we unpacked all his belongings into his room, very settled. He came to find us - after it had all been done, and was happy with the result.
It took me back to the day my family took our mum to the care home, settling her in and leaving her there to make her own way - roles reversed..........
Spent this evening watching spectre - good film.
