Midsummer Night Dreaming
The hummm of the highway & the maddness of Friday is replaced by sprawling leaves that adorn a wise old tree. Smooth running waters filled with gleaming reflections gently ebb passed soft summer grass that beckons picnicks and blankets to abound.
Anticipation & excitment are softened by playful children curious & happy to be out passed bedtime.
Clinking glasses, strawberries, chocolate & cheese, pizza & burgers, chips & dips, quinoa salads & fresh fruit platters - we are all here for the same thing. And without further ado, so begins A Midsummer Nights Dream.
The players dance & prance & float across natures stage. They rove infront, behind & on occassion amongst us & at one point, a ute complete with comedic merryiment enters. We laugh & clap & cheer as required, children watch & follow & even ask questions in awe. And as Puck bids us good night & our glowsticks dull we all leave Maribynong's Pipemakers Park gleefully happy & priveleged to have watched the Sly Rat Theatre Companys shakespearian production.
A credit to the community we have not left without falling in love with an atmosphere that invites one & all to emmerse themselves in the world of the bard - the magic of Shakespeare.
So what's the blip you ask? Well, on the way home we cut through the shopping centre where Skunk Patrol (scientists, engineers & light artists) had placed an interactive work which required the observer to look through a polarizing lense at a crystal garden made of sugar. This was the result.
It was beautiful & magical & unexpected so I'm blipping it because it is the perfect representation of a wonderful midsummer nights dreaming :)
PS : One little kid really did ask a question & they answered it - it was perfect :))
