Jas and Dave again

The crushing heat continues – what a summer! Excessive heat alternating with excessive rain.
 
Had a quick sortie to the bank this afternoon, and then extended my trip to include a visit to our phone and internet provider. It was meant to be a fact-finding mission, but I wound up finalizing a change of plans. It took 2 1/1 hours – absolutely absurd – but I couldn’t face the thought of going through the same thing with the other providers.
 
Jas and Dave chose some relatively cool options, starting with the Botanical Gardens, then moving on to the wonderful exhibition of the earliest photos of Rio that I visited last week. It’s in a beautifully designed modern space, surrounded by bamboos and trees, with one of Rio’s many rivers running through it.
 
Miracle Maria had prepared a Brazilian speciality, a delicious shrimp moqueca, prepared with dendê oil and coconut milk , for our dinner, with a pudim to follow (caramel custard made with condensed milk – wickedly sweet and irresistible).
