Exmouth morning.
Having taken about 80 photos throughout the day, MrC and I decided we liked the first one best. Taken as we walked along the promenade on our way to the Dockside Cafe for breakfast.
( full English for me. A Docker's Special for Mr C. Like mine, but with extra eggs, extra sausage, and extra toast!)
The tide was going out. Big waves splashing up to the sea wall. 20 mins earlier we would have got wet!
Next to Topsham and a walk to Bowling Green Marsh. Lots of waders and ducks. Including teal, wigeon, snipe, avocet, pintail, curlew, and over 100 black tailed godwit. ( see extra)
Coffee by the quay at The Pig and Pallet. Where they make their own charcuterie. ( see extra)
Afternoon we drove to Sidmouth. Our first visit, and we fell in love with this Regency seaside town, at the start of the Jurassic coast.
Full of small individual shops. Art galleries, book shops and plenty of lovely looking tea shops.
The sea was so rough, as the North Easterly wind was whipping up the waves. I have never seen a sea look so red. Must have been the reddish coloured sand which was out in the bay. The cliffs are very red along this coast.
Extra shot of the oldest house on the seafront.
Built 1790' and rebuilt in the Gothic style in 1826.
After nearly being blown away, we had tea and scones in a little coffee house.
Then another walk, before going back to Topsham, and the Lighter Inn. A favourite pub.
Fish and chips for Mr C and steak and ale pie for me.
What a fabulous day.
Slept well last night, think I will again tonight.
Tomorrow down to Cornwall.
( extra of a quince flower, seeing it's Friday)
