PONTOON

FAMOUS FOLK . . . I feel a new series coming on . . . so here we go with Number One . . . Albert Strange (1855–1917).
Yet again I am found wanting this week as I have not seen this monument before. There it is . . . large as life . . . on the side of Scarborough Harbour. This inner pontoon area was completed a couple of years ago. Albert Strange was an artist and yacht designer. His original drawings are held in the Mystic Seaport Museum in the United States.
He was Headmaster of the Scarborough School of Art and founded the Humber Yawl Club, where specially designed light boats were suitable to being beached on the mud flats of the Humber Estuary.
Hope you all have a grand weekend ahead !
