Birthday crocuses (crocii?)

My son Lewis and I planted these when he was a toddler. I explained that they'd flower every year on his birthday.

Here they are today, on his 12th birthday.

Only seems like yesterday that we used to potter around the garden together. He's all cool and grown up now! We're celebrating with family this evening and he's requested an Oreo cake....it's testing my baking skills!!!
