Hare Today

We did the other 1km square of our Mountain Hare survey today on our nearby Moorlands. As you can see we were more successful than last time when we didn't trouble the scorer. Conditions were perfect - cold, clear and very little wind. We had 3 sightings, although we are fairly sure that we saw this one twice, so we are submitting it as 2 records. I was especially pleased as we took one of my friends, a fellow volunteer from Longshaw. She had never seen a Mountain Hare before and was thrilled to see them. We also saw a few Lapwing, a Golden Plover, a Kestrel and a Raven up there, and the usual innumerable Red Grouse.
